What is LawMatch^TM?

LawMatch^TM is a complementary service to the free legal information and other resources that have been available on Law4u for the past four years.

Following demand from consumers for an independent service which allows an informed choice to be made of a legal service provider, we launched LawMatch^TM in 2001.

The aim of LawMatch^TM is to save you time and money by making the process of finding and choosing a lawyer easier, more informed and more effective.

This service is free and unique:

• All lawyers have been carefully selected and have agreed to meet Service Standards developed by us.
• We monitor the matching process through your feedback. It is important to us that this process is effective and that LawMatch^TM lawyers continue to offer the standards they have agreed to.
• The service is independent. Although we are lawyers and understand the relationship between lawyers and clients, we are not affiliated in any way to any law firm. Matching is made on the basis of your needs, not ours.

1. Complete the "About my Problem" form by providing basic contact details and information about your particular legal issue. The information you give to us is secure. You may want to read our Privacy policy.

2. Complete the "About my Lawyer" form this allows you to tell us which lawyer attributes are important to you, eg specialist accreditation, after hours access, practical expertise etc. If you don't understand the questions or any of the words we use, click on help for a detailed explanation about the question. It's a good idea to read this help page before you start anyway as it will give you better understanding of the matching process.

3. We read the information provided by you and search our LawMatch^TM data base for up to three suitable lawyers. Note: we match you to individual lawyers, not just a law firm.

4. We will email you with our selection of appropriate lawyers.

5. Once you have made your selection take the link to the LawMatch^TM Response form and:

   • Fill in the lawyer's name.
   • We send the About My Problem information to the lawyer you choose. This means the lawyer will understand the substance of your problem, what you have done already and how you would like the problem to be resolved. This should make your initial interview productive and time effective. It may also save you money.
   • And finally, to make sure you're ready you can read or download our Using Lawyers Information Pack .(This provides valuable information about issues such as questions to ask the lawyer, explanation of costing options, complaints process etc).

An integral element of LawMatch^TM is accountability. It is important to us to find out about your experience with the LawMatch^TM system. We will send you an email asking a number of questions about the process and whether it met your expectations. You don't have to answer this, but we obviously would appreciate your feedback.

All lawyers on our data base have at least three years experience and have agreed to meet the LawMatch Client Service Standards.

These are specific standards designed by us to address issues such as keeping you informed about the progress of your case, explaining costs etc.

Information provided by you is encrypted and stored on a secure server. We will only pass the information to your chosen lawyer if you agree. For further information read Privacy and Security.
