Steps

The aim of LawMatch^TM is to save you time and money by making the selection process easier, more informed and more effective.

Step 1 Complete the "About my Problem" form. The linked text underneath our Consumer Rules on this page takes you there.

Step 2 Complete the "About my Lawyer" form which allows you to tell us which lawyer characteristics are important to you.

Step 3 We then read the forms you have completed, search our database of lawyers and send you an email with profiles of up to three lawyers. We also provide our exclusive Using Lawyers Information Pack and LawMatch^TM Lawyer Information Sheets.

Step 4 You choose the lawyer you prefer.

Consumer Rules

1. WHO ARE THE PARTIES?
The parties to these rules are:
1.1. Lawscape Communications Pty Ltd ABN 65 091 922 977 ("Lawscape"); and
1.2. Users of LawMatch ("consumers").

2. WHAT IS LAWMATCH?
2.1. LawMatch is an internet service operated by Lawscape linking consumers with lawyers.
2.2. In these rules, "LawMatch" or "the service" means the LawMatch service as described below.

3. WHAT ARE THESE RULES FOR?
3.1. These rules set out the conditions of use of LawMatch by consumers. By visiting the LawMatch web site or any other web site where LawMatch is legally situated and using LawMatch consumers agree to these rules.
3.2. Lawscape makes no promises and has no obligations other than the ones written in these rules.
3.3. Consumers have no rights other than the ones written in these rules.

4. HOW WILL LAWMATCH OPERATE?
4.1. Consumers who access LawMatch are given access to various legal information resources and are asked to provide certain information about themselves, the problem they have and the advice they need. Lawscape will use that information to match the consumer with one or more lawyers from its database of lawyers and provide the consumer with profiles of those lawyers.
4.2. Lawscape does not promise that the use of LawMatch will lead to a consumer being matched to one or more lawyers, or that the lawyers whose profiles are provided will be acceptable to the consumer.
4.3. Lawscape takes all reasonable care to ensure that lawyers are duly qualified legal practitioners in the relevant jurisdiction of Australia, but it makes no warranties or guarantees as to the qualifications of any lawyer, the accuracy of the information in any lawyer's profile or the quality of advice and service provided by any lawyer.

5. NO LEGAL ADVICE
Lawscape does not provide legal advice of any kind. It merely acts as an intermediary between the lawyers and consumers who use LawMatch. From time to time Lawscape may provide content related to the law. This content is intended to provide general guidance only and it is not be regarded as a substitute for taking legal advice in relation to a consumer's particular circumstances.

6. URGENT MATTERS
Lawscape does not promise to provide a response to a consumer query within a certain period. Accordingly, consumers agree that they will not rely on obtaining urgent legal advice or legal services through LawMatch.  Lawscape is not responsible if a consumer's rights are lost or affected as a result of the time lapse between lodging a query and seeing a lawyer.

7. DEALING WITH THE LAWYER
7.1. There is no obligation to see any lawyer that a consumer is matched to. Consumers will make their own assessment of whether any lawyer they are matched with is competent and suitable for them.
7.2. If a consumer decides to instruct a lawyer they will enter into a separate contract with the lawyer.

8. CHANGING THESE RULES
Lawscape may change these rules at any time, so please check them each time you access the web-site. The rules on the site at the time you send your query are the ones that apply to you.

9. LAWSCAPE NOT LIABLE
To the fullest extent possible under law, Lawscape is not responsible for any loss or damage the consumer may suffer from:
9.1. using the service;
9.2. dealing with any lawyer sourced through the service;
9.3. relying on any information accessed through the service;
9.4. any other thing in any way arising out of or relating to the service; or
9.5. any loss of consumer's rights as a result of any delay in responding to a consumer's query.

10. CONSUMER'S RESPONSIBILITIES
Consumers are solely responsible for:
10.1. the accuracy, lawfulness and consequences of all material provided by them in their use of LawMatch;
10.2. independently satisfying themselves of the qualifications, experience, ability and appropriateness of any person introduced to them through the service;
10.3. maintaining the security and proper operation of their computer systems; and
10.4. complying with any guidelines or directives for the use of the service set out on the LawMatch web site from time to time.

11. PRIVACY
Lawscape agrees to abide by the "Privacy & Security" policy and procedures contained at the LawMatch website, as amended from time to time.

12. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
Lawscape owns all the intellectual property rights in and to the LawMatch web site, subject only to the intellectual property rights claimed by any third party in information appearing on any lawyer's profile.

13. INDEMNITIES
The consumer indemnifies Lawscape its agents, employees and contractors against any and all claims, liability, damages, loss or expenses, including legal fees on a solicitor-client basis it may suffer in any way arising out of or related to:
13.1 any matter for which the consumer is responsible under these rules;
13.2 any breach of these rules by the consumer ;
13.3 any claim by any person that they have suffered loss or damage that was caused or contributed to by the consumer;
13.4 any complaint by any person about the content or lawfulness of the content or representations made directly or indirectly in the use of LawMatch.

14. FEES
LawMatch is free to consumers. Lawyers pay Lawscape a small fee if a consumer enters into a contract for legal services with a lawyer flowing from the use of LawMatch. This fee is for the services provided to the lawyer and to the consumer as a result of the use of LawMatch.

15. TECHNICAL LIMITATIONS
15.1. Consumers acknowledge that computers and the Internet are subject to many technical limitations and transient failures which may prevent the service from operating optimally.
15.2. Lawscape is not responsible for any such matters.

16. Termination
Lawscape can terminate this agreement immediately without notice for any reason.

17. TRANSFERS
17.1. The consumer cannot transfer his or her rights or obligations under these rules.
17.2. Lawscape can transfer its rights and obligations under these rules without notice to or consent from the consumer.

18. LAWS AND DISPUTES
These rules are to be interpreted under the laws of Victoria, Australia and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of that State's courts.

19. NOT AN AGENT
Lawscape is not the lawyer's or the consumer's agent.
